I specialise in portrait photography from my base in Berkhamsted, bringing three decades of experience in both film and digital practice to every portrait session. My work grows from a lifelong fascination with people — I use photography as a way of connecting, exploring what makes us distinct and what we share. Authenticity is at the heart of what I do: whether I'm creating a studio portrait, a relaxed location shoot or a polished business headshot, my aim is to reveal a genuine, confident version of you. My background — studying BA Hons Photography at Hereford College of Art and Design and years spent printing and developing on film — informs a careful, considered approach. I combine technical craft with a storyteller's eye: I look for subtle expressions, natural gestures and the small details that communicate personality. This makes my portraits particularly effective for professional uses such as LinkedIn, company profiles and marketing imagery, where clarity and authenticity matter. Working with all ages and abilities is central to my practice. I take time to listen before the shoot: we discuss the look you want to achieve, the context for the images and any practical needs. On the day I create a relaxed, conversational atmosphere so even camera-shy clients feel at ease. For business portraits and headshots I focus on clean, professional framing and light that flatters, while retaining warmth and individuality rather than a one-size-fits-all corporate look. My studio and on-location sessions are adaptable: I can work with natural light or controlled studio setups depending on the mood required. After the session I bring images to life with careful editing that enhances tone and detail while keeping the subject authentic. I'm DBS checked and experienced working on assignments for corporate clients, charities and private commissions, so you can expect professionalism, discretion and thoughtful handling of every brief.
