I’m Gem Clack — a portraits photographer based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, and I specialise in creating honest, natural portraits that feel like you. Portraiture is my core focus: whether you want a timeless personal portrait, a contemporary headshot for LinkedIn, or a thoughtfully lit studio image, I bring a calm, friendly approach that helps people relax in front of the camera. Why choose Portraits by GC? My background in History of Art & Philosophy included photography modules where my love for telling stories through images began. I relaunched Portraits by GC in January 2024, but I’ve been photographing people since I was a teenager. That mix of formal study and long-term practice gives me sensitivity for composition, light and expression — the ingredients of a great portrait. My approach is simple and personal. I favour natural, candid moments over stiff poses; I work conversationally and gently guide clients so smiles and expressions feel genuine. For clients who prefer a more directed session I’ll offer clear, reassuring prompts — I help camera-shy people look and feel their best without ever forcing a look or mood. I often describe my style as relaxed and authentic: a modern portrait aesthetic with an emphasis on connection and storytelling. I offer studio and on-location portrait sessions around Bicester and across Oxfordshire — and I’m happy to travel further afield. Sessions are collaborative from the start: we’ll talk beforehand about your aims, wardrobe and the look you want. On the day I create a calm, friendly atmosphere so you can be yourself; afterwards I carefully edit each image to preserve tone and character while delivering polished, high-resolution files that are ready for prints or online use. While portrait photography is my specialty, I also photograph business headshots and professional portraits as a complementary service — ideal for entrepreneurs, teams or anyone wanting a confident LinkedIn image.
