I’m Pete Jones, a Brighton-based professional commercial photographer with an MA from Goldsmiths’ College, and portraiture is at the heart of what I do. I specialise in studio and on-location portrait work for individuals and organisations — from commercial headshots and LinkedIn-ready business portraits to expressive portraits of actors, musicians and academics. My aim is to create images that look authentic, authoritative and ready for use in PR, websites and corporate communications. My approach is straightforward and collaborative. I’ll work with you to understand how you want to be seen — warm and approachable, confidently corporate, or creatively distinctive — then shape the lighting, background and brief around that intent. For a studio look I can bring a full set-up to your site and create a calm, efficient portrait environment; equally I spend a lot of time on location in Brighton and beyond to capture subjects in places that suit their personality or brand. Over the years I’ve built long-standing relationships with clients who value a dependable, discreet and professional working style. That trust allows me to relax subjects and capture genuine expressions rather than stiff, posed shots. On larger commissions I work with assistants and can coordinate hair and make-up when needed, while always keeping the portrait’s purpose — whether a corporate headshot or a magazine portrait — front and centre. Technically I work to commercial standards: carefully lit captures using current Canon kit, refined editing in Lightroom and Photoshop, and secure delivery via my PhotoShelter library so clients can download high-res files easily. My portraits balance technical precision with an editorial eye, ensuring images reproduce cleanly across print, web and social channels.
