Hi — I’m Carla, the photographer behind Pint Size Portraits. For more than 18 years I’ve specialised in portrait photography across Chelmsford and Essex, helping families, nurseries and schools create portraits that feel honest, joyful and timeless. I position myself as a portrait specialist: whether it’s a calm studio shoot, a natural outdoor session, or a school catch-up portrait, my focus is always on creating images that reflect real personality rather than stiff poses. My approach is relaxed, playful and very much child-led. I believe that the best portraits happen when children feel safe, comfortable and free to be themselves. In the studio — my bright, cosy space on the outskirts of Chelmsford — I use simple backdrops, gentle lighting and a few well-chosen props to keep the scene calm and uncluttered. Outdoors I lean on natural light and seasonal backdrops to capture movement, laughter and the little, unscripted moments that tell your child’s story. Working with nurseries and schools is a big part of what I do. I’m used to running friendly, efficient portrait sessions where staff and little ones feel supported at every step. For families, my sessions are warm and unhurried: I guide gently to make everyone feel at ease and capture a mix of posed and candid images so you come away with portraits you truly love.
