Chesham-based portrait specialist Jo Plumridge brings 20+ years’ experience to professional portraits and business headshots. Her calm, conversational approach helps clients look natural and confident.
I’m Jo Plumridge — a photographer and writer based on the edge of the Chiltern Hills in Chesham. I specialise in portrait and business photography, bringing more than twenty years of experience to every session. My work focuses on creating relaxed, authentic portraits and professional headshots that feel honest and useable — whether for corporate profiles, LinkedIn, or personal branding. My approach is quietly observational and conversational. I aim to put people at ease quickly: a few simple prompts, a conversational rhythm and a calm studio atmosphere allow even camera-shy clients to relax. The result is natural expressions and confident, professional images that reflect personality as well as polish. For business portraiture I pay particular attention to posture, eye contact and subtle lighting that reads well on screens and in print. I’ve worked on corporate assignments across Chesham, London and the Home Counties, and I draw on a broad background — from travel photography to a period as a park photographer in Botswana — to bring visual sensitivity and compositional clarity to portraits. That range of experience helps me capture moments that are both flattering and characterful: headshots that look professional without feeling posed, portraits that tell a story. How I work: we start with a short conversation about purpose (social, website, press or internal use), tone (formal, friendly or creative) and any wardrobe or location preferences. In the studio I create a calm environment where people can move and be themselves; for corporate work I’m used to adapting to office spaces and quick-turnaround shoots for teams and individuals. Please note I am currently taking a break from shooting professionally to focus on personal projects. If you need photographs in the meantime, I recommend contacting Abigail’s Studio for bookings. Even while taking a pause from commercial work, my commitment to portrait photography — its craft, empathy and attention to detail — remains at the heart of how I think about images. If you’d like to discuss portrait commissioning in the future, I’m always happy to hear about projects and intentions. My portraits are for people who want images with personality, clarity and a quietly professional edge — made with care in Chesham and the surrounding counties.
