I’m James from JGT Photography, a Coventry-based portrait specialist with a passion for creating portraits that feel honest, relaxed and beautifully composed. Portraiture is a core focus for my work — I photograph individuals, families, children and business clients in both a portable studio and on location around the West Midlands, always aiming for images that reflect personality and purpose. My background as a qualified graphic designer (degree-level training) gives me an edge when it comes to composition, colour and the final edit. I shoot with high-end Canon full-frame cameras and a selection of L-series lenses to ensure super-sharp results, and I approach every session with attention to lighting, framing and the little details that turn a good photograph into one you’ll want to keep and share. How I work: sessions are friendly and unhurried. I steer shy or nervous clients with gentle direction and conversational prompts so you’ll hardly notice you’re being photographed — the best portraits usually happen when people are relaxed. For newborns and young children I use techniques and lighting that are comfortable and tear-free, avoiding harsh flash and encouraging natural moments in the home or studio. For business headshots and LinkedIn portraits I focus on a clean, professional look that suits your industry: simple backgrounds, flattering natural or studio light, and a few variations so you have options for web, social and print. My process includes thoughtful capture and careful post-production. Because of my design experience, edits are not just about retouching but about delivering web-ready, print-ready and brand-consistent images. I’ll work with you to choose the right style — editorial, natural, formal or friendly — and provide finished files optimised for their intended use.
