I’m David John — a Droylsden-based portrait specialist who cares about one thing above all: producing portraits that truly represent you. With a background in acting and time spent working with an acting and casting agency, I understand how an image needs to read for casting directors, employers and clients. That insider perspective is at the heart of everything I do. As a portrait photographer my focus is on capturing honest, character-led images. I aim to create a relaxed studio atmosphere where you can be yourself — whether that’s a natural, conversational portrait or a confident professional headshot for LinkedIn. I often work to music (tell me your playlist if you have one) because sound helps people settle and find the expression that best fits their work. If you prefer silence, that’s fine too — whatever helps you perform best in front of the camera. My approach is simple and collaborative. Before the shoot we have a short conversation so I know the roles or jobs you’re going for. On the day I guide you through poses and expressions, give clear direction and shoot plenty of frames so we can find the images that connect. I take time to get to know you; when you’re at ease your personality comes through and the portraits become useful tools that help you get noticed. While portraiture is my core specialism, I also provide professional business headshots tailored for websites, LinkedIn and corporate profiles. Whether you need a creative, characterful portrait or a clean business image, I adapt lighting and styling to suit the brief. I shoot from my Manchester studio (natural light with studio options) and at my London studio when required, always maintaining the same calm, efficient process.
