Hi — I’m Mike (Michael J Mawby). For me, portrait photography is about more than a flattering picture; it’s about capturing the person behind the smile. Based in East Dereham, I specialise in portrait and headshot photography, combining years of experience (photography since 2009, full time since 2016) with a relaxed, friendly approach that helps even camera-shy clients feel at ease. My portrait work focuses on authenticity and connection. Lighting and mood are central to my process — I use studio setups and on-location techniques to isolate subjects, reduce distractions and shape the look and mood you want. You don’t need to worry about technical details; I’ll guide you through posing, expression and wardrobe so the session runs smoothly and you feel comfortable throughout. I run shoots with a calm, conversational style. Before the session we’ll talk about the outcome you want — brand tone, personal style or a family story — and I’ll recommend whether a studio background or a location shoot will serve that vision best. During the shoot I focus on small adjustments and positive direction so we capture genuine expressions rather than forced poses. After the session, I carefully edit and prepare images using industry-standard workflow to deliver polished, print-ready portraits and digital headshots. While portrait photography is my core speciality, I also offer business headshots and professional images tailored for social profiles and corporate use. My aim is always the same: to present you as approachable, confident and authentic.
