I’m David Tombs and portrait photography is at the heart of what I do. Working from my Felixstowe studio I bring more than 25 years’ experience to every session, combining technical craft with a patient, people-first approach. My aim is always to produce images that feel honest and timeless—portraits that reflect personality, relationship and character rather than trends. Why choose my portrait studio? I work in a bespoke way: each session starts with a short consultation so we can discuss intent, clothing and the mood you want to create. That preparation means the shoot itself runs calmly and confidently – I guide poses, offer gentle direction for those who are nervous in front of the camera, and use props or environmental settings when they add to the story. Whether you prefer a classic studio portrait, an informal environmental shoot, or a relaxed home session, I tailor the experience to suit you and your family. My core strengths are family portraiture, pet and animal portraits, and contemporary portrait work. I love capturing the small, honest moments between people (and their pets) and have won awards for my pet photography. Pets often bring an effortless energy to a session and I’m happy to photograph them in-studio, at home, or out in the countryside where they come alive. I also offer business headshots and professional portraits for individuals and small teams. While portraiture is my speciality, I understand the needs of business clients: we’ll discuss the message you want your image to convey—LinkedIn, website or press—and I’ll provide a polished, professional result with options for subtle retouching and multiple looks. My process is simple and collaborative: consultation, photoshoot and viewing. I take time to help you relax, to coach on pose and expression, and to present your images in an accessible gallery so you can choose the prints and formats that suit your home or business.
