I’m Andrew Mackenzie — a Frinton-on-Sea portrait photographer with a clear focus: creating portraits that reveal character. I’m self-taught and have been shooting since 2005, developing a style that balances careful planning with a relaxed, collaborative atmosphere. Over the years I’ve worked with models, artists and private clients and my portrait work has been published for outlets such as Unrated Magazine and Rogue Model Management. For portrait sessions I plan the shoot with you — discussing looks, locations and the mood you want to convey — then create a calm environment where people relax and perform naturally. I work closely with models and newcomers alike, guiding poses and expressions while leaving room for spontaneous moments that often become the strongest images. How I work: before the session we talk through ideas and references so we start on the same page. On the day I focus on making you comfortable, setting up straightforward lighting or using available light to suit the mood, and capturing a mix of posed and candid frames. After the shoot I carefully edit the selected images to deliver a cohesive set of portraits that tell your story. My passion for portraiture comes from a love of people and storytelling.
