I’m Simon Booth, a Hastings-based portrait photographer with a simple aim: to make you look and feel your best. My work grew from a lifelong love of photographing people and a degree in Film, Video & Photography where I learnt the importance of light, composition and directing. Over the years I’ve developed a studio approach that blends relaxed, natural portraiture with the technical control of studio lighting. Why choose my portrait studio in Hastings? My style sits between classic portraiture and reportage: I favour clean compositions and flattering skin tones, but I prioritise real expressions and relaxed moments so your images feel genuine, not staged. How I work: sessions are friendly and unhurried. In-studio you can choose from a range of backdrops (black, white, dark and pale greys, dark blue) and lighting styles — from soft, beauty lighting that flatters the skin to slightly harder-lit looks for a more masculine edge. If you prefer, I bring the same portable studio lighting to your home, workplace or an on-location spot in and around Hastings, giving you the best of both studio control and personal comfort. During the shoot I aim to put you at ease with clear direction and simple, natural prompts so even camera-shy clients relax. After the session I send all the good, unedited files for you to review and you can select up to six images for detailed editing — I keep retouching subtle, enhancing tones, smoothing where needed and whitening eyes/teeth without losing authenticity.
