I’m Rachel, the photographer behind Wallflower Photographics, based just outside Horsham. I specialise in portrait photography — especially family and children’s portraits — and my work is rooted in one simple idea: the best photographs are the ones that feel natural and timeless. I love photographing outside in fields, woodland and seasonal wildflowers, finding soft light and honest moments rather than relying on stiff poses. My approach is discreet and natural. I aim to capture real moments in a simple, timeless way so your images reflect who you are — laughing, cuddling, playing and being together. I’m not one for staged or heavily posed shoots; instead I look for beautiful settings and let families relax into the experience. If Mum or Dad needs to dance behind me, pull faces or make a fool of themselves to get a giggle, that’s part of the process and often produces the most treasured images. My background in photography goes back to university and I’ve been running Wallflower Photographics since 2011. Over the years I’ve worked on a variety of shoots, but my work has naturally narrowed to outdoor family and children’s portraiture — a style that fits my way of working and family life in West Sussex. I photograph with patience and a gentle, conversational manner so even the most camera-shy children feel at ease. How I work: we choose a location that suits your family — open fields, bluebells, sunflowers or woodland — and I keep the session relaxed and playful. I look for connection and movement, capturing candid expressions as well as a few composed portraits. After the session you’ll receive a private gallery where you can view and select images. While portrait and family photography are my core focus, I also offer occasional business portraits and professional headshots on request for clients in the Horsham area who prefer a natural, approachable look. I’m fortunate to work with local nurseries too, photographing children in outdoor settings that feel familiar and comfortable.
