About the Photographer

Established 2019

I’m Amy Bateman — an award-winning Kendal-based photographer who loves capturing light, memories and the character that makes each portrait unique. I specialise in portrait photography and professional headshots, helping businesses and individuals present their best selves with confident, authentic images. My approach is simple: I immerse myself in every commission so the images truly reflect who you are. Whether you need a LinkedIn-ready headshot, a compelling business portrait for your website or a framed portrait for your home, I aim to create relaxed sessions where natural expressions and honest moments can be captured. I work with available light and studio-quality portable lighting to produce consistently beautiful results — so I can offer studio-style shoots in my Kendal area studio or in the comfort of your own home or workplace. What makes my portraits different is a storytelling focus. I build imagery that doesn’t just look good — it communicates. I pay attention to light, detail and environment so each photograph becomes a small narrative about your personality, brand or place. My background in documentary and rural photography means I’m comfortable creating environmental portraits too — using home, farm or business settings to add context and authenticity to the image. Working with me is friendly and straightforward. We’ll start with a short conversation about the look you want and how the images will be used. On the day I create a calm atmosphere, giving gentle guidance so you feel at ease and get natural results. I bring portable lighting and simple backdrops when needed and can adapt to on-location constraints to ensure studio-quality images wherever we shoot. I’m proud of the books, exhibitions and commissions I’ve been part of, but what I love most is making portraits that people treasure. Images can be supplied as high-resolution files for web and print, and I can help with beautifully framed prints if you want a lasting physical piece. If you’re in Kendal or the surrounding area and looking for a specialist portrait photographer who values story, light and authenticity, I’d love to talk about your shoot.
