Hi, I'm Melinda — a Kidlington-based portrait specialist. I create natural, relaxed portraits and professional images for individuals and families with a calm, personal approach.
Hi — I’m Melinda, a Kidlington-based photographer who specialises in portrait photography. Portraits are at the heart of my practice: I focus on creating images that feel honest, comfortable and timeless. With undergraduate and master’s degrees in photography and videography and a portfolio shown in eight exhibitions, I bring both technical training and an artist’s eye to every session. Why choose me? I treat portrait work as a collaboration. Whether you’re booking an individual portrait, a family session or maternity photography, my goal is the same: to capture genuine moments and expressions rather than stiff poses. I work slowly and thoughtfully, offering calm direction so even camera-shy clients feel at ease. That relaxed atmosphere is particularly valuable when I’m photographing children, babies or expectant parents — areas I’ve worked with extensively over the years. My approach blends documentary sensitivity with considered composition. I look for natural light, subtle gestures and small interactions that reveal personality. Technical craft matters too: careful lighting, framing and post-processing ensure portraits look beautiful in print and online while retaining the natural character of the subject. How I work: we start with a simple conversation about what you want to achieve — mood, location and the practicalities. I tailor each session to your needs so the experience feels personal and unforced. On the day I aim to create a calm, friendly environment where laughter and quiet moments both have space. After the shoot I gently curate and edit images so you receive a coherent set of photographs that tell the story we created together. Though portrait work is my speciality, I also photograph families, maternity and events across Kidlington, Oxford and surrounding counties. That breadth of experience helps me read moments and anticipate connections, whether I’m capturing a single headshot or a family interaction. If you’re looking for portrait photography with a thoughtful, experienced photographer based in Kidlington, I’d love to hear about your ideas. My style is warm, personal and rooted in long-term photographic study and exhibition practice — making portraits that feel like you, now and for years to come.
