I am Peter Nutkins, a Mendip-based portrait specialist devoted to creating commissioned, fine art family portraits designed to become your family’s heirlooms. My process is personal, private and designed around your home. We begin with an in‑home design consultation where we explore the rooms you’d like to fill and refine a portrait concept that complements your interior and family story. On the day of the sitting I bring a full mobile studio — lights, backgrounds and styling — so your session is relaxed, unhurried and comfortable. Capturing natural connection and character is central to my approach; I aim to create an atmosphere where the real personalities of your loved ones can shine. After the sitting your images are lovingly transformed using my signature painterly editing and hand‑finishing techniques. Each study is refined to evoke the tones and textures of classical painting while preserving the individuality of the people portrayed. The final artwork is revealed in‑home and I assist with placement so the portrait becomes an intentional centrepiece in your living space. I work with families across Mendip, Devon, Somerset and the South West, and travel UK‑wide for exclusive commissions.
