Pavilion Photographic Studio is a specialist portrait studio based in the East Pavilion of Blackburn House, Bathgate. Our focus is simple: outstanding portrait work delivered in a warm, friendly environment (and yes, there’s good coffee). Led by MQEP- and FBIPP-qualified photographer Barrie Spence, we combine craft, technical rigour and a relaxed, collaborative approach to help clients look and feel their best. Why choose us? Our work is about authenticity: creating images that reflect personality and purpose rather than forcing a look or a trend. What makes our approach special is how we balance control and comfort. The studio is equipped with professional Broncolor and Bowens lighting, a mix of continuous and natural light options, and a variety of modifiers so we can craft looks from high-key commercial to intimate low-key. At the same time, sessions are slow-paced and conversational; we’ll guide poses and expression, but our priority is to make the experience calm and enjoyable so genuine moments appear on camera. How we work with clients: every booking starts with a friendly conversation about your goals — whether that’s a headshot for a CV, a dancer’s portfolio, or a portrait for promotion. In-studio, we set up to suit your needs and offer assistance throughout. If you’d like practical help learning the technical side, Barrie and Fiona also deliver tailored tuition and small-group workshops (studio lighting, retouching, Lightroom), and we run regular model days for hands-on practice.
