I specialise in portrait photography in Edinburgh, helping individuals, families and small businesses create images that feel like them. Portraiture is at the heart of my practice — whether that means a tightly cropped headshot for LinkedIn, a considered location portrait that tells a bit more of your story, or a thoughtfully composed family portrait to hang on the wall. My approach is practical and collaborative. Years of studying professional photography and working across press, PR and editorial taught me that great portraits come from two things: getting the lighting right and working with people so they feel comfortable in front of the camera. I’ll start with a chat — by email, phone or in person — to understand what you want to say with your images and to choose the right location, whether that’s a favourite corner of your home, an Edinburgh landmark, Portobello’s beach or a hired studio space. Sessions are relaxed and unhurried. I’ll help you prepare the space, suggest simple wardrobe or prop ideas if they’ll add to the picture, and guide you through poses so the results look natural rather than staged. For business portraits I focus on producing professional, approachable images you can use across your website and social media; for actors and performers I create headshots that read well to agents and directors; for families and couples I aim to capture genuine moments alongside a few posed images. After the shoot I do careful selection and basic retouching, then deliver your images electronically. Password‑protected online galleries make it easy to share proofs, select favourites or allow others to purchase prints and files. If you need different output sizes or prints, I can arrange those too. I’m a licentiate member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP) and fully insured, and I bring a light‑led, editorial sensibility to every portrait session.
